The Alleged Final Trailer for ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ is Full of New Footage (VIDEO)

To date, the only real mystery behind the plot of June's X-Men: Dark Phoenix was the mysterious new villain played by Jessica Chastain. Well, this new trailer goes right on ahead and takes care of that for you, so the only thing you need to worry about now is finding out how it all wraps up. Considering this is allegedly the "final trailer" for the film, that may have to wait until the release date.

If it seems like Dark Phoenix is a bit familiar, it's because the X-Men franchise has already killed itself off once before by attempting to adapt the most famous X-Men comic book storyline with 2006's ill-advised X-Men: The Last Stand. It's fitting that they would once again return to this story in order to bury the franchise one more time, but did we really need another lackluster adaptation of the Phoenix saga?

This will be the last hurrah for all of the stars as Marvel more than likely has plans to dismantle and reboot the mutants into their MCU, and the repercussions of next week's Avengers: Endgame will more than likely give us a decent idea of how they intend to do that. They love setting things up years ahead of time and they're not exactly known for doing it subtly, so keep your eyes peeled.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix closes out the Fox X-Men era on June 7.
