Taylor Swift might have just surprised everyone with her latest lyrical choice, she’s quoting none other than Candace Owens. In her brand new album "Life of a Showgirl", Taylor drops a song centered around the Blake Lively scandal, and one lyric in particular has fans raising eyebrows: “Did you girlboss too close to the sun?”
If that sounds familiar, it’s because Candace Owens first coined the phrase months back in a TikTok and on her podcast episode “The Taylor Swift Plot Thickens.” At the time, Owens was weighing in on the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni drama, calling it a story that would go down as “girl bosses who flew too close to the sun.”
Now, Swifties are buzzing about the fact that Taylor appears to have lifted the line directly into her song. The lyric continues with:
“Did they catch you having far too much fun?
Come with me, when they see us, they'll run
Something wicked this way comes
Good thing I like my friends cancelled”
Whether it’s a sly nod, a cheeky jab, or an unexpected co-sign, Taylor using Candace Owens’s words is one twist in the saga nobody saw coming!
