NBA Playoff Roundup – Spurs Quiet Thunder

Game two of the Western Conference Finals was very well played by both teams, but San Antonio showed Oklahoma City that they're going to have bring their A++ game if they want to win in the Spurs' house.

San Antonio 120 - Oklahoma City 111

I'm sure that if OKC coach Scott Brooks knew his big three were going to score 88 points combined, he'd feel pretty good going into the game. Kevin Durant had 31, James Harden dropped 30 and Russell Westbrook had 27, but it wasn't enough as San Antonio dominated throughout the game.

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 34 points, shooting a ridiculous 16-21 from the floor. Manu Ginobili had 20 off the bench, including a rainbow three late in the fourth to effectively end the Thunder's comeback hopes. The other scary stat for OKC was that Tim Duncan only shot 2-11 for 11 points, and the Spurs still owned the game. Is the Series Over? »

Spurs and Thunder Game Two Preview and Predicition

The San Antonio Spurs erased a nine point, fourth quarter deficit in about 3 and a half minutes to derail the Thunder's hopes of stealing game one. Tonight, OKC looks to even the series, but can they do it?

San Antonio doesn't rely on Tim Duncan anymore to be the man every game, so when he gets 16 points and 11 boards, the other team has to hope he's leading the team that night. In game one, Manu Ginobili had 26 and Tony Parker had 18. If the Spurs' big three go off like that, it's tough for anyone to beat them.

OKC will have to try to control the tempo, which they did for three quarters in game one. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden did what they normally do, but it wasn't enough. The Thunder need more than 17 combined points from the other starters. Kendrick Perkins needs to be a beast on the offensive glass. So Who's Going to Win? »

Gregg Popovich Doesn’t Want to Talk About his Team’s Success (VIDEO)

Gregg Popovich doesn't like question about win streak
Grouchy Much?

Spurs' coach Gregg Popovich is legendary for his curmudgeonly ways. He doesn't care for the spotlight, he doesn't like talking to the media; he's about as chappy of a coach as you can find.

Popovich is also a professional and does what he's supposed to do. One of those things is of course, talk to the media after games. He just doesn't hide the fact that he hates it. So when a reporter asked about the team's 16 game winning streak and beating the Clippers by an average of 17.5 points in each of the first two games, Gregg gave a typical Popovich answer. Luckily, birthday boy Tony Parker brought some humor into the room after Gregg was done.

NBA Playoff Roundup – Spurs Dominate, Pacers Cool the Heat

Two games, two blowouts. The Spurs showed the Clippers once again why they're the number one seed in the West, and Indiana had their way with Miami.

Indiana 94 - Miami 75

The easiest way to sum up this win by Indiana is to look at how Miami shot the ball. Shane Battier, 0-7. Dwyane Wade, 2-13. James Jones, 1-6. LeBron James, 10-22. Mario Chalmers was the lone bright spot, going 10-15 from the field. Overall, the Heat shot 37.2%, and were a woeful 20% (4-20) from the three point line. Indiana's big man, Roy Hibbert, dominated inside as the Heat continue to miss the injured Chris Bosh. Hibbert scored 19, grabbed 18 boards and blocked 5 shots. Game four is Sunday in Indiana, and is obviously critical. If the Heat can't win on Sunday, they will lose what's left of their mental game and be done. Spurs Roll Again »

The San Antonio Spurs are Once Again Quietly Owning the NBA

The San Antonio Spurs lost last night to Utah, 91-84. When you look at the stats, you see why. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker all sat out to rest. The loss ended the Spurs eleven game winning streak. The Spurs don't care about such trivial things.

The Spurs and their coach, Gregg Popovich, care about one thing, winning titles. The Spurs are so mundane, you can almost forget they're in the NBA. But yet, they have the second best record in the Western Conference.

You will rarely ever see San Antonio in highlight reels, because they don't really have highlight plays. Doesn't matter. (In fact, that's one of the most exciting pictures I could find of their team.) What does matter is that the Spurs win on the road. Those are the things the Spurs worry about, not whether or not anyone on the team is making Sportscenter's Top Ten plays. Read More » »
