I don't really understand why some folks over at Hollywood decided to revive the Spider-Man franchise so soon with The Amazing Spider-Man. It's been a little over five years since the trilogy that starred Tobey Maguire ended, and as you might have already heard, another franchise starring the same webbed superhero is set to hit the big screen soon.

What with The Dark Knight Rises releasing details of its impending release earlier this week the cast and crew of The Amazing Spider-Man have decided to follow suit. The film's director Marc Webb told MTV that his version of the film will differ from Sam Raimi's 2002 opus as will any of it's potential sequels.

Webb stated that he "wanted to give the audience something new, so that started off with getting underneath the parents' story, which will unfold over probably a few movies. We don't totally wrap up that story in this first movie. It's sort of an ongoing mystery. That was something that was interesting to me." Sounds intriguing.

Viral campaigns are an integral aspect to any modern films marketing strategy especially when the competition is as fierce as this summers fare. So for Peter Parker fan boys, most of whom are already moist in anticipation at the return of the webbed wonder's exploits in The Amazing Spider-Man, a new video featuring Denis Leary's Captain Stacy giving an interview to Daily Bugle TV is likely to make them burst.

Unfortunately our beloved J. Jonah Jameson isn't conducting the interview, rather one Eva Predelson. However Leary's Stacy offers us enough to make us forget about the alliterated editor of our favourite newspaper.

This summer promises to be the most profitable in celluloid history. I know what you're thinking, you hear this every year. But 2012 is different. From March onwards there is a steady stream of movies entering our multiplexes that will also bombard us with various kinds of advertisements, each one more annoying than the last.

There will be blockbusters that feature established characters who are being unleashed upon us for either a sequel or reboot, confirmed money making actors trying to deliver new creations and there is even the prospect of half a dozen comic book heroes combining together to save the globe. Each of these films are destined to make an obscene amount of money that a small country would be jealous of.
