‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Avengers’ Almost Crossed Over! Mind’s Boggle At The Thought!

It's safe to say that The Avengers has been the greatest success of the summer blockbusters. And by raking in over a billion dollars already from around the world Thor, Captain America and friends are now everyone's favourite movie ensemble.

The Amazing Spider-Man will be hoping to rival it's fellow Marvel comic-book in both it's box office receipts and critically reception when it's finally released on July 4th, and it actually seems like the two movies had more in common than people first thought.

Sony and Marvel were looking to connect these two franchises as The Avengers orginally possessed a direct reference to The Amazing Spider-Man, with the Oscorp building being part of Manhattan's skyline. Unfortunately it didn't work out due to time restraints but it's great that such a dialogue exists between the pair.

Of course, hopes have now been raised that these two films can at some point cross over. If so, I think Sony and Marvel might have a bit of a success of their hands.

Catch Rhys Ifans' Lizard in New 'Spider-Man' Featurette!

We don't really know much about Peter Parker's new nemesis in The Amazing Spider-Man aside from the fact that it's an extremely huge, dangerous, and grotesque-looking lizard. Columbia Pictures offered everyone a first look at the creature by releasing a few stills earlier this month, followed by the movie's third trailer which showed Spider-Man battling it out with the Lizard.

Still curious? We don't blame you. Aside from a few blurry shots of the Lizard and faceless stills, we still don't know much about it. But that's all about to change with this new Rhys Ifans featurette showcasing the one and only Lizard.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ To Go Into Production In 2013

Despite not arriving on our screens for another 2 months The Amazing Spider-Man has announced that a sequel has already been ordered and a sequel is planned to go into production in early 2013. The all mighty screenwriting talent behing Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have been hired to write a new version of James Vanderbilt's screenplay.

The pair has announced via their official website that "We grew up as huge Spider-Man fans so, tu us, the opportunity to work on this film is akin to being handed the Holy Grail. We love the direction Sony and the filmmakers are taking the Peter Parker/Spider-Man mythology and we couldn't be more excited to a part of this legendary franchise." Happy to hear how pleased they are.
