NFL OTAs – Because Talking NFL in May is Good

It's only May, and right now there are still 104 days until the first NFL regular season game of 2012-13. So let's talk some NFL. Organized Team Activities, or OTAs, have been going on around the country for a few days now. We're getting to see Peyton Manning in Broncos gear, Tim Tebow in Jets gear, and what's left of the Saints back in action.

There's really nothing to report, Sports Illustrated's doom and gloom aside. It's only May, so what's the point of trying to break down who's going to start where, or if your favorite team will win that crucial week 5 matchup? (They won't.)

What we can do is take a look at some shots from the OTAs and keep hoping September gets here faster.

Peyton Manning is Back! Want to See Him Throw?

Want to see Peyton Manning throw? If you said yes you are not the only one.

After the media circus that surrounded the end of the Peyton Manning Era in Indianapolis and the search for a new home for one of the most prolific passers in NFL history, you would think that we would know what the man was capable of. We've heard rumors. We've heard conjecture. We've heard rumors that refuted rumors, and then other rumors that refuted those rumors (yes, it's been tedious).

Peyton Manning Likely One and Done in Denver

Before football fanatics in the Mile High City start to go crazy thinking about all the Super Bowls that Peyton Manning is going to lead them to, they might want to consider a few things:

The man is 35 (36 on Saturday, March 24) and when he starts getting knocked around a lot his neck, among other things, is going to hurt—a lot.

He just wants to win another Super Bowl. John Elway would like to bring one to the Mile High City too. The last time Denver fans celebrated a Super Bowl win Elway was at the helm then too, but on the field instead of the front office. Should Manning lead the Broncos to New Orleans and Super Bowl XLVII this year, how often do you think the talking heads on every sports show on earth are going to talk about that?

What’s Next For Tim Tebow?

Now that Peyton Manning is in negotiations to be the Denver Broncos' QB, the team is reportedly set to trade the polarizing Tim Tebow. His army of fans would've never stood for it...unless Peyton was his replacement, so yeah, he's toast. So what becomes of young Tebow?

The biggest knocks on Tebow are that he's not a pocket passer, his throwing motion is terrible and, well, that's about it. But those are huge things to deal with. This is the NFL, and you can't win with mechanics like Tebow's. Unless you're Tebow and you figure out a way to win and take your team to the second round of the playoffs.

So where should Tim take his talents? Well, it's not really up to him, but here are some places he might want to get traded to. Read More » »

NFL Free Agency Turning Into a Literal QB Carousel

Dwight Howard has made loyalty a household word, because he’s too loyal and has always believed loyalty was over anything (even though he has held the city of Orlando hostage for the last few months, but he says that he loves them).

At least in the NFL the players are honest. They want to get paid what they are worth. If they’re current team is not willing to float the bill they’ll find another one. If they are actually worth paying someone in the NFL will be willing to do it.

The early days of the NFL’s free agency period have shown fans already that there is no loyalty; it’s all about the money. No one knows that better than the latest group of quarterbacks to switch teams or be rumored to be switching teams—and there’s a bunch of them.
