LeBron James Named Regular Season MVP (VIDEO)
Whether you love or hate the guy there is one thing that no one can deny—LeBron James can play some serious basketball. Although his name might still make you cringe and induce flashbacks of the decision, you have to admit that he had a tremendous season this year while leading the Miami Heat into the post season yet again.
If you can’t admit it, well, than too bad. Enough of us can to see that the voters were right in naming James the MVP of the regular season.
During the regular season James averaged 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.9 steals; tack on 53 percent shooting and the only other player to have numbers better during a season was His Airness, Michael Jordan (1988-89; and he didn’t win the MVP that year).
It’s the third time in the last four seasons that James has won the MVP. With three to his name now he enters pretty rare company as one of eight players to have been named MVP at least three times. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Moses Malone are the only other players in NBA history to have accomplished the feat.
Pretty good company; now if only he could win an NBA title…
