Floyd Mayweather Jr. Needs to Rethink his Stance on Manny Pacquiao

Prior to and after Floyd Mayweather’s recent fight with Miguel Cotto, there seemed to be more interest in whether the so-called best pound-for-pound boxer in the world would ever fight the other guy that claims the same designation.

To make the long story short, Mayweather’s answer to that question was no. He continued to claim that Manny Pacquiao uses some sort of performance enhancing drug, and that there is no way he Pacquiao could have plowed through the guys he did without using something.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather Taking the Safe Way Out with Miguel Cotto

This weekend, when the masses are celebrating Cinco de Mayo, there will be many that will be forking over $69.95 at home or paying a cover at their favorite bar to watch the supposed pound for pound best boxer in the world demolish another opponent. I’m talking about the Floyd Mayweather Jr./Miguel Cotto fight of course.

Before any naysayers try to say that Cotto is this, that, and the other thing and really does have a solid chance to defeat Mayweather let me just say this. I’m like you. I would love to see Cotto knock the swagger out of Mayweather so hard that 50 Cent starts singing Sinatra. Is it going to happen? No.

Manny Pacquiao Ready to Retire from the Ring?

Who among us does not appreciate a good fight? Any male that has raised his hand can turn in his man card as he leaves the room and turns on The View or Desperate Housewives.

We all like fights—watching them, that is. Luckily for those of us that like to watch there are guys (like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather) that are really good at winning them. Those two have been especially good for the sport of boxing since it has been hard pressed to find guys that can garner the kind of attention that many of the fighters of yesteryear (Mike Tyson before prison, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Julio Caesar Chavez, Oscar De La Hoya, etc.) once did.
