Heat and Celtics Game Two Preview and Prediciton

The Miami Heat try to take a 2-0 lead tonight over the Boston Celtics in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals in Miami. After dominating Boston in game one, Miami has to be feeling pretty good about their chances.

Even Boston coach Doc Rivers said that his team was overwhelmed by Miami's speed in the first game. I don't see how they can get faster suddenly, but if Boston can commit to playing harder team defense with a lot of help, they might be able to surprise Miami. Who's Going To Win? »

NBA Playoff Roundup – Miami Sets the Tone

The Boston Celtics tried to hang with the Miami Heat and were able to make it interesting for a half, but fatigue set in during the second half and Boston couldn't slow down LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Miami 93 - Boston 79

Miami jumped out to an early 10 point lead, as the Celtics only managed to score 11 points in the first quarter. The Celtics then went wild in the second quarter, scoring 35 to Miami's 25 to tie the game at 46 going into the half. That's when it all came apart. Too Much Wade and LBJ »

Rajon Rondo Leads the Celtics in to the Conference Finals (VIDEO)

In Rajon Rondo We Trust!

If you ever want to see what the box score of a winning team should look like check out the one for the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals against the Philadelphia 76ers--all five starters scored in double figures.

Kevin Garnet chimed in 13 rebounds to go with 18 points and Paul Pierce was one rebound short of a double-double (15 points, 9 rebounds). The day belonged to the young kid, Rajon Rondo. When the team needed him most he came through with a triple-double, 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

He had a pretty bad game through the first three periods, but when the team needed him most following Paul Pierce fouling out late in the final period he turned it on scoring 11 of the team's final 14 to lead them to a 85-75 win.

Next up will be a trip to South Beach to test their considerable skills against LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and the rest of the Miami Heat. Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be at 8:30 PM ET on Monday.

NBA Playoff Roundup – 76ers Force Game Seven

Is it a 'roundup' if there's only one game? Yes, the judges will allow it. Philadelphia forced Boston to game seven with a low-scoring win last night.

Philadelphia 82 - Boston 75

It might not have looked great, but the end result is all that matters. Boston battled to an underwhelming 36-33 halftime lead and was unable to hang on as Philly forced game seven back in Boston. The Celtics shot a whopping 33.3% for the game and hit only three of their fourteen three point attempts. Rajon Rondo was a miserable 4-14 from the field.  Ugly, but it still counts »

Andre Iguodala Helps the 76ers Even the Series with the Celtics (VIDEO)

Hang Time! Starring Andre Iguodala!

I have been waiting for the right video clip to pull out one of my favorite lines from a basketball movie. Anybody remember White Men Can't Jump? Remember Sidney Dean talking about how 'it's pretty; it's so pretty!'

This will not be that post.

It wasn't a very pretty game, but it was an effective one for Philadelphia. The 76ers kept the Celtics from cracking 20 points in any period (20 in the 3rd). They didn't do much better, but they did do better; enough to win the game 82-75.

What the 76ers were nice enough to do is make up for the lack of poetry in the game by treating us to the occasional slam (thank you Andre Iguodala)--a thing of beauty in itself.  Game Seven will be Saturday back in Boston.

NBA Playoff Roundup – Thunder Move On, Celtics Roll Sixers

Two games in the NBA playoffs last night and both were 16 point margins. The Thunder moved on to their second straight Western Conference Finals by dispatching the Lakers, while the Celtics handled business at home over the 76ers.

Boston 101 - Philadelphia 85

Boston inched closer to the Eastern Conference Finals with a game five win over Philadelphia last night to go up 3-2. Brandon Bass exploded in the third quarter for 18 of his game high 27 points. You're in trouble when someone outside of Boston's big three goes off like that. After giving up 50 points in the first half, Boston locked Philly down in the second and held them to 35 points. Rajon Rondo was a beast on the boards, grabbing 14 rebounds to go with his 13 assists. The Celts will try to close out the 76ers in Philadelphia tomorrow night. Too Much Thunder for L.A. »

NBA Playoff Roundup – Celtics Smoke 76ers, Thunder Strikes Lakers

Two games in the NBA Playoffs last night, and both of them could have seriously swung the momentum in their respective series. Boston bounced back from a home loss with a big road win, and the Thunder stole a victory from the Lakers.

Boston 107 - Philadelphia 91

After losing game two in Boston, the Celtics were hearing the whispers that maybe the upstart and 8th seeded 76ers could take this series. Not so fast. Boston came out strong and dominated start to finish. Kevin Garnett continued his surprising playoff run, showing there's plenty left in his tank. KG led the Celtics with 27 points and 13 rebounds, while Paul Pierce had 24 points and 12 boards despite a sore knee. This loss has to hit Philly hard, who figured to have momentum after a big win in game two in Boston. Now they're going to be feeling the 'must-win' pressure in game four, or face being down 3-1 heading back to Boston. Lakers Snatch Defeat From Jaws of Victory »
