The Greatest Moments Of The 2012 London Olympics!

And so that's it. The 2012 Olympics are done. Will Rio be able to match the achievements of our cosy little neighbours to the east in four years time? Well, it'll take a huge effort to do so.

It's been two weeks of Queen diving, Union Jack waving, Usain Bolting, Spice Girls performing jubilation but unfortunately it had to come to an end at some point.

At least we have the Paralympics to help us through our comedown. Stop laughing.

Olympic lovers are now spending their days either doing the 'MoBot'  or 'Usain's Point', both of which they look stupid doing if you're not either Farrah or Bolt, whilst us sane people are just left with the memories. But what were the greatest moments of the 2012 London Olympics?

What Did You Do Yesterday? Well, Manteo Mitchell Ran 200m Of His 4x400m Relay With A Broken Left Leg, So He Wins!

When USA qualified for Friday's 4x400m relay final on Thursday evening with the second fastest time of 2 minutes. 58.87 seconds, there seemed to be very little drama involved.

But later in the evening it was revealed that Manteo Mitchell, who ran the first leg of their sprint did so with a broken leg! Jesus, I asked for wheelchair when I broke my little finger.

And he was still able to complete his opening lap in a time of 46.1 seconds, with Joshua Mance, Tony McQuay and Bryshon Nellium finishing off the semi-final for the US.

So, Apparently NBC Don’t Know Who Evander Holyfield Is!

Evander Holyfield
Watch Video

Evander Holyfield is regarded as one of the greatest boxers ever but you still wouldn't expect to see him waltzing along the streets of London during the Olympics. Or maybe you would? I mean, he clearly likes sport.

Still, you would expect someone at the "Today Show" to recognize him, especially considering someone stopped the former heavyweight champ outside of Buckingham Palace to ask him about Queen Elizabeth's acting debut alongside Daniel Craig in the opening ceremony.

But no one did as the clip above shows.

Evander calls the Queen "wonderful" in his quick comment but wasn't labelled by his name in the extraordinarily brief segment.

Chinese Swimmer Is Accused Of Doping! Here Are The Olympics’ Greatest Ever Drugs Cheats

Poor old Ye Shiwen, all she wanted to do was swim really fast and now she is being called a drug cheat just because she achieved her dream.

The 16 year-old Chinese gold medalist romped to a record-breaking victory in Saturday's 400m individual medley but then had to endure seeing her performance being described as "disturbing" by the respected American coach John Leonard.

To compound her misery, Leonard also said that it was "suspicious" and brought back "awful memories" of drug cheats. Ouch.

Of course, Ye Shiwen has maintained her innocence, but the fact that she swam the final 50 metres of the race faster than the winner of the men's race, Ryan Lochte, has raised suspicions.

It would be very flippant of me to call the young lady a disgraceful cheater right now but there are some athletes who do deserve to be awarded this label. Here are some of the Olympic's most notorious drug cheaters.

Usain Bolt Auditions To Play For Manchester United (VIDEO)

Usain Bolt
Shouldn't he be focusing on the 100m?

Usain Bolt is obviously really quick. In fact, you might even say he's a little bit too quick. But his speed seems to have gone straight to his head though as he now thinks that he can simply waltz into any football team in the world.

And it's not like he's sets his sights on playing for a mediocre club. Oh no, he wants to star for England's most successful football team, Manchester United.

To help him with his quest, Usain has made an audition tape that he will be hoping makes it into Sir Alex Ferguson's hands. You can check it out above but don't expect to be too impressed.

Five Must-Have Apps for Olympics 2012 Fanatics

The Olympics comes only once in every four years. The average human's life span is 76, give or take a few years. So if you do the math, we've all got about 19 chances to catch the Olympics. Cut that down to about 17, since I doubt four or eight-year-olds would be interested in watching the games (save for the exceptional few.)

So really, just jump on board and give in to the Olympic fever! Read More » »
