What is the purpose of doing so much hugging while in the water? Unless one of them does not know how to swim, I see it as entirely unnecessary.
And even if it is intended to be a safety precaution to prevent one from drowning, by using both arms they are nullifying any good that they could do. Arms are pretty damn important when it comes to swimming, and you are not going to do anyone much good without them. Lieutenant Dan did just fine swimming without any legs, but no arms would be a death sentence.
Now this is all said under the assumption that one of them cannot swim. I make that assumption because there is no other realistic theory. All of this physical touching between two people who (probably) have no intention of hooking up baffles me. Men do not show affection in this way. The most sensual touching we do to each other is a delicate tap to the testicles in order to enact grievous pain for everyone else’s amusement. One may not think this would be the case, but it is actually more satisfying to watch than even two lightly clothed women hugging.
