Uncle Brian's got some bad news for you kids out there that really loved Mutt Williams, the son of Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood introduced in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Space Between the Spaces. The character originated in the last Indy adventure by former teen heartthrob Shia LaBeef sadly served as nothing more than the series' Poochie, and has therefore been dropped from the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the film's scribe David Koepp—who wrote the last one too, just as a reminder—said that the character was not a part of the script. Bear in mind, no one involved with Lucasfilm products controlled by Disney is allowed to say ANYTHING anymore, lest it be considered a spoiler, but he very nonchalantly says that Mutt's out of the picture...

Harrison plays Indiana Jones, that I can certainly say,” screenwriter David Koepp, who has penned a script for the fifth film in the storied Indiana Jones franchise, tells EW. “And the Shia LaBeouf character is not in the film.

So all he can tell us about the fifth film is that Harrison Ford's character is definitely in it and Shia LaBeef's is definitely not. Man, that's gotta be a blow to fans of the character, if they exist. The character was a serious miscalculation to begin with, basing his look on Marlon Brando and making him the son of one of the most beloved characters of all time. Add in the universal apathy toward the actor who played him and there's really no reason to include him in a follow-up. Mutt's off at college or whatever, who cares? He's out of the picture. Considered part of the course corrected.

It's gonna be a lot of fun to see a ton of parents bring their kids to see one of their childhood heroes die on-screen again. "Why is daddy crying?" "Daddy can't believe they did this to him again!!!" Fun!
