This season of The Simpsons is the animated series' 25th. By the end of it, there will be over 530 episodes, every one of which some nerd somewhere will have committed to memory. However, for us casual fans, well, let's just say the show lost it's Breaking Bad-like grip on us ages ago. Sure, we still watch it in syndication, or if we happen to be at home on Sunday night with nothing better going on. But it's not 'must-see TV.' (Okay, so that was an NBC slogan, but you get what I'm saying.)

For this reason, the show's executive producer, Al Jean, did a conference call with reporters last week to reveal some plot points for the Silver Anniversary season. The highlights of that conference call? Comic Book Guy gets married! And there's going to be a Futurama crossover episode!

Also, a main character is going to die. DIE DIE DIE!

Yep, when rating dip, bring everybody back by telling 'em you're  going to kill somebody off. They did it to Maude Flanders, and now somebody else is going to have to be sacrificed for a ratings spike.

But who will it be, you ask? Well, Jean dropped one hint: the voice actor who plays the character has won an Emmy for playing that character.

Unfortunately, while this does seem to suggest it will be someone significant, that leaves the following characters susceptible to the Grim Reaper this season: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Edna Krabappel, Apu, Moe, Chief Wiggum, Sideshow Bob, Carl, Lou, GroundSkeeper Willie, Sideshow Mel, Comic Book Guy, and of course good old Abe Simpson.

If I were a betting man, I'd put a few bucks on Abe. He is the most logical choice. However, I'm not a betting man, and in fact I have no idea where you would even place such a bet. If you know, please tell me. I'd like to gamble more.
