Selena Gomez’s attempt at an emotional plea for immigration reform has officially backfired, with a former Miss California and MAGA enthusiast, Carrie Prejean Boller, leading the charge to call her out.

Selena’s since deleted video, featuring her teary eyed monologue about “her people” being deported, did not sit well with the internet, or frankly, anyone who enjoys a bit of common sense with their breakfast.

Carrie Prejean Boller, who has made a hobby of mixing pageantry with political hot takes, fired shots at Selena on social media, essentially telling her to put her money where her sobs are.

"Hey Selena Gomez," Boller wrote, "how about you call all of ‘your people’ you're crying about being deported and invite them to stay at you mansion behind your big walls and gates until they leave?"

Shots fired! And Carrie wasn’t done. She also called Selena out for ignoring cases like the murder of nursing student Laken Riley by an undocumented immigrant and accused her of crocodile tears. "Save your fake tears," she concluded.

Selena, who reportedly purchased her $4.9 million estate (custom-built by none other than Tom Petty) back in 2020, hasn’t exactly offered up any guest rooms yet. And with six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a gym, a massage room, a pool, and even a wine cellar, it sounds like there’s plenty of space. But hey, maybe she’s busy planning her next Netflix documentary.

Speaking of documentaries, Selena has made it clear she’s very in touch with immigration issues. Her 2019 Netflix doc Living Undocumented chronicled the lives of undocumented families in the U.S. and highlighted her own family's history.

Her dad’s side immigrated from Mexico in the 1970s, including a truck bed border crossing by her aunt. While her connection to the cause is personal, her dramatic on camera breakdown has left people wondering, why not use that $1.3 billion net worth to take actionable steps?

The criticism didn’t stop with Carrie. British journalist Piers Morgan labeled Selena’s video as "absurd celebrity narcissism," while Megyn Kelly went all in, calling the video a “crocodile tear performance” from someone “clearly unwell.” Even Trump’s former Border Czar Tom Homan chimed in on Fox News, unapologetically defending the deportation policies that sparked Selena’s meltdown.

"We're gonna make our community safer," Homan said on Fox News. "It is all for the good of this nation. And we're gonna keep going. No apologies. We're moving forward."

"I don't think we've arrested any families. We've arrested public safety threats and national security threats, bottom-line," he said.

Social media was just as unforgiving, with fans and critics alike roasting Selena for turning on the waterworks instead of offering real solutions. “Tears are fine,” Megyn Kelly said, “She’s unwell. Obviously, this is an unwell person… And by the way, anybody who takes their phone works up in tears and posts a video of themselves crying into their phone is sick. That's a sick person.”

Ultimately, Selena deleted the post and added a little sass, writing, “Apparently it’s not OK to show empathy for people.” But is it really empathy when your tears are more publicized than your efforts? Maybe next time, instead of logging onto Instagram to cry, she can log onto Zillow and start buying up properties for all those “people” she wants to help!
