Ridley Scott Returns to Suck the Philip K. Dick Well Dry for Syfy

The last time Ridley Scott and the world of Philip K. Dick collided was in 1982 when the world was given the gift of Blade Runner. And what a gift it was. There'd been talk of Scott going back to that world with a sequel, but after the sort-of prequel to Alien, Prometheus, failed to, how shall we say, live up to expectations of people, I think most fans were hoping the rumors of a Blade Runner sequel would die faster than a replicant that's lived past its programmed life cycle.

In the meantime, Scott is executive producing a miniseries for Syfy based on Dick's 'The Man in the High Castle.' An alternate fiction tale, 'High Castle' tells the story of an America in which Japan and Nazi Germany were the victor's in WWII. The 4-hour project will be overseen by X-Files writer Frank Spotnitz. With the pedigree of Scott and Spotnitz behind this project, let's hope it comes off better than the last Dick adaptation, last year's abysmal remake of Total Recall. Dick's work has had its fair share of adaptations and as you can see in the gallery, they run the gamut from classic cinema to b-movie bomb.
