Don’t Worry Knicks Fans, Raymond Felton Says He’s Better Than Jeremy Lin Anyway

Even though Jeremy Lin is gone to Houston, despite preferring to stay in New York, he's still a hot topic in the city's sports sections. New (again) point guard Raymond Felton wants Knicks fans to know the team will be good in his hands. Felton was out in Vegas during summer league games, and was asked about Lin by MSG Network.

I am a competitor, I am a point guard just like he is, so do I think I am better? Of course, I am going to say that," Felton said. "I think I am better than any point guard. That's the way I am supposed to think."

Felton's right to think that way. Of course dudes in the league should think that they're the best. You don't want your guy thinking he's only the 13th best point guard and goes into games already beaten mentally. But is he really better? Let's take a look, shall we? 
Felton just turned 28-years-old and played college ball at North Carolina. Lin turns 24 next month and played at Harvard. Advantage Felton.

Felton has played 534 career games with 479 starts, averaging 34.8 minutes per. Lin has 64 games with 25 starts and 19.1 minutes per. Advantage Felton.

Felton's career points per game average is 13.8 with 6.7 assists, with highs of 17.1 and 9.0 in his 54 game run with the Knicks in the 2010-11 season. Lin's career averages are 9.2 points and 4.0 assists, with highs of 14.6 points and 6.2 assists with the Knicks this past season. Advantage Felton.

Felton isn't a household name who will bring fans to the arena, sell thousands of jerseys or bring 500 million fans in China to their TVs. Lin is a household name and does all those things. Advantage Lin.

Basketball wise, the Knicks might be better off right now. Lin is young and might turn out to be all-star point guard, but it's hard to say after he played just 35 games this past season. The sample size is too small to tell. One thing for sure though, he'll be making money for the Rockets.
