Starting this list right is none other than DK himself. This guy’s so full of star power even gave Mario his start as ‘Jumpman’. Donkey Kong’s highest point was back in the time of the Super Nintendo where his series saw its greatest instalments but his games are still coming out (albeit much less often) to this very day. Donkey Kong’s renown was enough to guarantee his inclusion into cross-franchise titles such as Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing. Diddy’s own series of games even came from the popularity brought on by DK’s previous endeavours, not to mention the entire family of ‘kong’ characters that have been created as a result. After so many years of quality titles, it’s no surprise that Donkey Kong has received his spot among the greatest animals in the history of gaming.
