The author of the highly-successful and infamous 'Flowers in the Attic' died of breast cancer in the mid-1980s. Realizing her name was worth quite a bit of money, her estate and her publishers decided to just hire a male ghostwriter to continue to publish under VC's name, turning the gothic storyteller into (judging from the picture to the left), something of a poor man's Stephanie Meyer.
