Film & TV Plots Ruined By Amnesia
« Back to Story
Clean Slate. In the early-mid '90s, Dana Carvey was the funniest man in America. His characters and sketches from SNL had tuned the comedian into a household name. It was only a a matter of time before he transitioned to a successful film career, right? Wrong. He chose his first post-SNL starring vehicle to be about a dimwitted private investigator living at Venice Beach who suffers short-term amnesia every time he wakes up (imagine Memento as made by the Farrelly Brothers). The joke is funny for about 4 minutes, 23 seconds...AKA roughly the length of an SNL sketch.
