A.J. Pierzynski to Minnesota – 2003
« Back to Story
This one actually happened in November of 2003, but because of who was involved and what they did, it merits mention. The San Francisco Giants sent Francisco Liriano, Joe Nathan and Boof Bonser to Minnesota for A.J. Pierzynski. A.J. only played that season in SF, before heading to the Chicago White Sox and a World Series title. Joe Nathan became the Twins all-time saves leader and Liriano was an elite pitcher who even threw a no-hitter before getting the injury bug. Bonser was the bust of the deal, but San Fransicso was the big loser in it.
