Aeris – Final Fantasy VII

The holder of the coveted top spot on this list doesn't require any fancy title or even much of a description. Literally every self respecting gamer knows the story of Aeris' demise in Final Fantasy VII. She went out on her own to try and do her part to save the world from it's impending doom and gave her life in the process. While praying at the Forgotten Capital, she is stabbed through the back by the game's protagonist Sephiroth with the longest blade you will ever see. The kill was simple but it was the emotional aspect that made the biggest impact on the gaming community, making Aeris' death one of the most memorable events in the history of video games. The innocent flower girl from the slums that you befriended and maybe even had a thing for (don't judge) was just trying to do the right thing. She wasn't a strong warrior and she most definitely never asked for this life but, as the last remaining member of the Ancients, she was the one who had the power to save us all.
