12 Monkeys. Terry Gilliam combined time travel, the post-apocalypse and environmentalism all into one head-trip of a film. It also gave us Bruce Willis with a shaved head for the first time. A bummer of an ending reminded us that time can never really be changed, but that can be a good thing too.
