A good opening title sequence will set the tone for the film and provide some sort of set-up, either into the plot of the movie or into the mindset of the characters. A great title sequence (like Lord of War, featured above) will do all of that and match it with a perfect song to become unforgettable.

So with that in mind, we've collected some of our favorite opening credits that we just can't seem to get enough of. And while most will probably be obvious choices, we tried to throw a few surprises in there, as well. So check it out and let us know what we missed.

Snatch

A quick introduction to each character with a glimpse into their personality and lifestyle.

Se7en

Disturbing images sliced with flash frames make this one of the most memorable opening credits ever.

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

If David Fincher did the credits for a James Bond movie, this is what they would look like.

Zombieland

Zombies wreaking havoc in slow motion paired with Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls." Such a good combo.

Casino Royale

The Bond films are famous for their opening credits, and while all are great, Casino Royale remains our favorite.

Reservoir Dogs

Cue epic badass walk... now!

Catch Me If You Can

Perhaps the best example of a narrative title sequene.

Superbad

It's cheesy, it's stupid, but so darn catchy.

J.C.V.D.

Easily the best opening credits nobody has seen. Seriously.

Drive

It's simple, but it sets the tone for the movie so well.

Watchmen

Regardless of your feelings towards the film, everybody agrees that Zack Snyder did a great job setting up the story with these credits.
