Now You Can Get Ripley’s Sneakers From Aliens

Some of my favorite movies are the first two Alien films. I think they are pretty much perfect movies. They are horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and have one of the most badass female characters in film history. Ripley is an incredibly strong character at a time when women were usually just sexualized or shown as weak. I mean, she does strip down to her underwear a couple of times, but that's just gravy. In general, she's all about kicking alien ass. One of the coolest things about the movies are the way they portray the future. It felt very much like a future that could happen from our present day. Take, for example, the clothes. Ripley wore a pair of high tops that were at the same time very 80's and futuristic. Kind of like the shoes Marty wore in Back to the Future 2. Luckily, Reebok is coming out with a limited run of Ripley's shoes on April 26. Why April 26? Because the planet where the aliens did their alienating was LV-426. Get it?

There is no price yet on these shoes but I think I'm going to pass. Not because they aren't cool, but because I'd feel like a total tool wearing those around NYC.
