NBA Signing Trend – Old Guys are a Hot Commodity

I'm a huge proponent of experience being a key in the NBA. I said it during the Finals, and I've said it since. But the latest signings and 'interest' from teams in the uh, older generation of players is getting crazy.

According to ESPN, Grant Hill has committed to play for the L.A. Clippers next year. Whether he ends up getting signed and traded or gets signed to one of those wacky bi-level exemptions is still an ongoing process, but either way it's going to end up that the 39-year-old (40 when the season starts) will be wearing Clippers gear. The deal is expected to be for two years.

Meanwhile, Yahoo's Marc Spears says the Lakers are supposedly interested in acquiring the services of Antawn Jamison. Jamison just turned 36 last month, so he's not quite as creaky as Hill.

These moves follow 39-year-old Steve Nash going to the Lakers, and 39-year-old Jason Kidd going to the Knicks, with both getting three-year deals.

As Orlando still tries to figure out how to deal with The Dwightmare, the Nets have moved on it seems. Brooklyn announced that they are bringing back Kris Humphries at a $12 million per year clip for the next two seasons.

As for Howard, a new report says that the Lakers are back in play for the perpetually disgruntled big man. Meanwhile, Howard vented to a twitter follower in a DM (really?) that the Magic never cared about him, just money.

I guess someone forgot to tell Dwight he's grown and the NBA is a business.
