Metal Gear Rising’s E3 Trailer Changes Everything (VIDEO)

The talented folks over at GameTrailers have scored with the E3 trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and this one actually lives up to the hype. Ridiculous title aside --it's absolutely George W Bush-ian in its construction-- this Metal Gear seems faster and more action-oriented than any that's come before because of its emphasis on sword play. That's an entirely new approach to the franchise which might explain the all new naming convention.

Solid Snake would fool with a nasty Rambo knife every now and then when it was time to take out guards quietly, but all of this running, jumping and slashing looks more like Devil May Cry than Sons of Liberty. If video game zombies can evolve from stiff-legged foot draggers into undead sprinting champions over the years, then I guess our stealth heroes can become whirling blurs with lethal blades too. Seriously, that weapon in the trailer makes George Lucas' lightsabers look like flashlights.
