One way or another, whoever won the Stanley Cup, history was going to be made. Had the New Jersey Devils completed the comeback and overcame a 0-3 series deficit to win the Cup, they would have been the first team to do so since the Toronto Maple Leafs did it back in 1942. If the Kings won, they'd bring home the first Cup in franchise history, and become the first No. 8 seed to do the deed.

When Game 6 ended Monday night in L.A. history favored the Los Angeles Kings!

The Kings took control of the game early scoring three goals off of power plays in the first period. Jeff Carter added a fourth for the Kings early in the second period; Trevor Lewis and Matt Greene added two more late in the third period to make the final score 6-1 making the Kings the series winner (4-2) and new Stanley Cup Champions.

Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the post season MVP after a record setting performance. No other goalie (with at least 15 playoff starts) has had a better save percentage (.946) or allowed fewer goals per game (1.41).
