Celebrities are a strange breed. Maybe it's the fact that they live their lives under the microscope, but it seems as though all their decisions are always at the very extremes of the spectrum. "Hey, we just met, let's get married!" "Hey, I just got my first job ever, I'm going to buy a private jet!" "Hey, my entire future's ahead of me, I'm going to do loads of drugs and fuck it all up right now!"

So, it's no surprise that Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton have decided to go from being mortal enemies, to best friends, literally overnight. Page Six, broke the story two days ago:

Lindsay Lohan is playing with fire. She's now decided to be best buds with her former nemesis Paris Hilton, and the two even had a sleepover in Las Vegas this weekend.

On Saturday night, the terrible twosome arrived arm-in-arm to Michelle Trachtenberg's 21st birthday party at Tao and spent the night signing autographs for fans and whispering to each other.

Then the ditzy duo retired to the $25,000-a- night Sky Villa at the Palms - for a pillow fight, no doubt.

And now, SFGate has Paris Hilton's take on the situation:

Hilton tells LuxeLife, "Lindsay and I were sitting around in L.A. with no plans and no dates so we decided to just come to Vegas and party.

"Lindsay and I are good friends and we both are single, solo and love Vegas, so why not on the spur of the moment just fly in?"

Lohan adds, "We're here for fun and we're going to enjoy it."

So, there you have it. One minute you're calling someone a firecrotch, the next they're your best friend. Of course, when all it takes to be best friends is a good hook up, I guess you'll pretty much go for whoever's closest.

Thing is, these two deserve each other. Let's just hope they don't invite Nicole Richie into the group, because that would truly be the Axis of Evil.
