Kevin Spacey Is A Cat For Some Reason In “Nine Lives”

I'm a big fan of Kevin Spacey. He was incredible in Seven and who can forget his turn as Keyser Soze in The Usual Suspects. He's currently tearing it up as Machiavellian politician Frank Underwood in House of Cards. I've seen him on stage too and he is unbelievably talented. Which is why I was perplexed when I saw this trailer for his new movie Nine Lives. In it Spacey plays a businessman who doesn't have time to spend with his family. Not an original idea, but it could be OK for family fare. Then it gets weird. Spacey is trapped inside the family cat Mr. Fuzzypants so that he somehow learns that he needs to put his family first. I'm not sure how being a cat teaches you the importance of family, but what do I know? I have some questions.

What is Kevin Spacey thinking? Does he really NEED to make this movie. He's working all the time. He doesn't need the money. Was he moved by the script? Was he inspired by the acting challenge of playing a cat? Also, how in the name of F did this movie get greenlit? It seems unbelievable to me that with all the movies in limbo out there, that THIS movie got made and attracted not only Spacey but also Christopher Walken is in it as well, (he turns him into the cat), and it is directed by Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld. My only theory is that they all lost a bet to Satan and had to be in the movie.
