Spin-off shows are almost always terrible. Sure, there have been a few exceptions to the rule over the years, but for every The Jeffersons, Mork & Mindy, and Pinky & the Brain, there's a Golden Palace, The Tortellis, or Joanie Loves Penis.
When the notion of spinning off Bob Odenkirk's character Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad first arose, it seemed like a decent enough idea, but one that would probably follow in the footsteps of other failed spin-offs of the past. Little did any of us know that Better Call Saul would turn into a rich, character driven series that's every bit as compelling and nerve-wracking to watch as the show from which is was spun off.
The show returns for its fourth season next month, and this new trailer shows that Odenkirk's Jimmy McGill is inching ever closer to becoming the sleazy, smooth talking Saul Goodman. Breaking Bad fans will also be thrilled to see Giancarlo Esposito's Gus Fring back in action, not to mention on a collision course with Jimmy and his scheming ways.
So get ready, because on August 5th, Mike the Cleaner, Jimmy, and all your favorite characters will be back, along with some returning Breaking Bad fan favorites as well, I'm sure.
