It's bad to be the Knicks right now, but it's even worse to be Jason Kidd. The buzz about his bathtub family photo scandal and his pleading guilty to a domestic violent charge from his now ex-wife has already mellowed down with the past season, but Kidd is once again spiraling to publicity hell.

This time, with a new charge: driving while intoxicated.

The eighteen-year NBA veteran was arrested early Sunday when he drove his car right into a telephone pole in the Hamptons area. His lawyer Eddie Burke Jr. has said that he'll be pleading not guilty to the misdemeanor, but sources told TMZthat Kidd looked "incredibly drunk" and had to be carried out of the club by his buddies. He drove off around 1:00 AM and crashed his car shortly thereafter.

Kidd was said to have suffered minor injuries. That might be the case physically, but what took a major beating at this point was his reputation.

Just last week, the Knicks had signed Kidd to a three-year deal that was worth $9.5 million. The deal made sense if you considered the experience he'd be bringing to the table instead of the average 6.2 points per game he'd be contributing.

Somebody should have told Kidd that he had already left the bar and that the telephone pole wasn't what he thought it was.
