Yes, Avatar may very well be the highest grossing film of all time, but is that really something to judge a film by? Eh, yeah probably. But talking to most people, I think odds are no one will say they really loved the movie all that much. Sure it was fun to see in 3D, but the story was hackneyed and trite and it was missing a particular human element that made so much of James Cameron's earlier films so memorable. Was there anything really memorable from Avatar other than the whole sex tendril scene? Which is why I find it upsetting that Cameron said in a recent interview that he's 'not interested in developing anything. I'm in the 'Avatar' business. Period. That's it.'

I don't really think anyone wants to journey back to Pandora as much as James Cameron does. Especially considering the 'human' character played by Sam Worthington isn't even human anymore. And there was somehow more identifiable qualities found in the T-101 in Terminator 2 than in Worthington's Jake Sully. Cameron is one of the most talented, creative filmmakers of all time, so it's such a shame that he's putting aside any other possible idea to make other than 2-3 more sequels that embarrass me by having me admit that 'Yes, yes, I do fap off thinking about Na'vi Zoe Saldanabut let's not make a big deal out of it.'
