The Terminator franchise has dropped off quite remarkably over the last couple of instalments. 1984's The Terminator re-defined the science fiction genre with it's 1991 sequel Terminator 2:Judgment Day even bettering the original piece.

However 2003's Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and 2009's Terminator Salvation were mostly remembered for introducing a unfathomably attractive female cyborg to proceedings and the on set meltdown of its lead actor respectively.

But the release of today's news that the series is due to return to our screens is still enough to make people sit up and take notice. Especially when it is the original's creator, James Cameron, that is doing the talking.

Cameron discussed how he gave advice to Arnold Schwarzenegger abut returning to the franchise stating that "I was taking to him back in fall about a new Terminator film and quietly advising on that. I was trying to be as encouraging as possible. Frankly, at that time, I thought it need to be more about him."

"I told him he should not do it until it's focused on his character. I think there are some great stories that can be told about that character that haven't even been though of yet."

Justin Lin, the director of Fast Five and some of Community's greatest episodes, was originally attached to direct but has since left to concentrate on the next Fast And Furious film, thus the director's seat remains empty.

So with the film's future still unclear we await further details of any development with baited breath.

Fingers crossed that Cameron and Arnie decide to reunite.

Then the world truly would be a better place.
