Yesterday we told you all about Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars series The Mandalorian, coming to Disney Play next year, and today we've got our first official look at the title character, along with a rumor about the involvement of everyone's favorite German filmmaker Werner Herzog.

First up, let's take a look at the show's title character, rumored to be played by Game of Thrones' Pedro Pascal, courtesy of StarWars.com...

Not bad at all, if you ask me. This single photo is enough to get me even more jazzed for the show than I already was. The article also mentions a list of directors for the various episodes, and it's got some fun and unexpected names on there...

The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone WarsStar Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

One name not included on the list is Werner Herzog, who recently dropped a scoop and a half while speaking with IndieWire...

At TIFF, the director told IndieWire that he would soon act in “a big franchise film, about which I’m not supposed to say anything,” he said. “I can only say the title. The code name is ‘Huckleberry.’” He chuckled. “For god’s sake, that’s only a cover,” he said.

Now, Making Star Wars did some digging and discovered that The Mandalorian's code name while in production was Project Huckleberry, which hopefully means that Herzog will join the Star Wars Universe soon. Hell, I could listen to him narrate the entire series...
