(Editor's Note: I'm sure you all know how much Egotastic! abhors the Instagram phenomenon where everybody with a camera now believes they're Ansel Adams disciples. So, it goes without saying, this article only reflects the opinion of the author.)

I'm sure you've heard of Instagram. Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably already know that it's one of the coolest, free camera apps around for the iOS. (And if you're on Android, don't worry, because word on the street is that it's going to be heading to your OS very, very soon.)

Instagram is an app that lets you take photos and apply creative filters to your images before sharing them with your network via Facebook or Twitter, provided you're connected to the Internet. But what if you wanted prints of your photos to keep as mementos, right then and there at the party or event or wherever you might be?

The people over at Breakfast apparently have the same sentiments, because they've come up with Instaprint. It's basically a portable photo booth that you can hook onto walls and set up right then and there using your smartphone and your WiFi connection. What it does, then, is print out credit card-sized prints of the Instagrams that are tagged appropriately with the hashtag for your event.

Instaprint needs to raise around $500,000 though, before it will ever become a commercial reality. That's what its creators are trying to do via the crowd-funding site Kickstarter, where it has raised close to eighty grand already. You can get in on the action and maybe even get an Instaprint or two for yourself by pledging to support the project. A minimum pledge of $399 will get you one Instaprint set complete with a controller, a coiled power cable, one power supply, and 20 sheets of inkless paper.

You can read more about Instaprint and back the project by checking out their page on Kickstarter.
