Here’s All You Need to Know About Amazon’s New Kindle Fire HD Line (VIDEO)

People knew it was coming, although they didn't really pay much attention. You know what I'm talking about. It's not theiPhone 5 (I can't believe you'd think it was, considering all the hype that fanboys and non-fanboys are giving the yet-to-be-announced smartphone.)

Rather, we're talking about Amazon's new line of Kindle Fire tablets, which they recently unveiled last week. Amazon's tablets were once dubbed as the 'iPad killer' given its ultra-low retail price, but those claims soon fizzled out when people actually got their hands on the device. It performed way below people's expectations, forcing Amazon to go back to the drawing board. And re-draw they did.

It isn't even out yet and already people are complaining about the ads (which you can apparently turn off or get rid of if you buy the ad-free version). Amazon, do something about that bad press before it sours people's perceptions of your tablets.

Anyway, here's their new lineup that might (once again) have the potential to be an iPad killer. And since they unveiled four, well, that pushes the odds in their favor, doesn't it?

8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD

This is the tablet to watch out for (or so, they say.) It'll come with an 8.9-inch screen with a 1920x1200 display that's said to have 25% less glare than its predecessors. That screen size approaches that of the iPad, which will make it more appealing to those who are looking for alternatives.

Other features include: a front-facing HD camera, an OMAP 4 4470 processor, two antennas, larger storage (it comes in 16GB and 32GB with 4G LTE options). The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is priced at $299, while the 32GB 4G version retails for $499. They'll ship out on November 20.

7-inch Kindle Fire HD

If you're keen on the size that the Kindle Fire originally came in, then Amazon was probably thinking of you when they decided to still launch a 7-inch Fire HD. It'll come with a 1280x800 display, but other than the smaller size, it more or less has the same features as its larger sibling--you know, front-facing camera, same processor, bluetooth connectivity. They'll ship out starting September 14 and are priced at $199.

Kindle Paperwhite

For those who still plan to hold on to their iPads but want to get a e-reader, there's the Paperwhite. It features 62% more pixels and has 25% more contrast. You'll still get to take advantage of the electrostatic ink technology, only this time, you can actually read your e-books because it comes with a backlight too (finally!) These will ship out October 1, with the basic one priced at $119 and the 3G one at $179.

But if you've only got got $69 to spare, no worries, because you can get the basic Kindle for that measly amount.

Check out the entire lineup on Amazon right now, where they're available for pre-order. (But I recommend that you wait until people post their reviews of the tablets up before buying any. Don't repeat the mistakes that thousands of people made the first time Amazon launched the Fire.)
