TV & FILM

One of the most anticipated films of 2017 has to be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The sequel to 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy has a lot to live up to considering—and I know I'm not alone in thinking this—it's the best film in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film had its first press screening last night, and though critics are embargoed until next week, word on the street is that it lives up to its predecessor and then some.
Last night the cast of the film dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to debut a new clip from the film in which the Guardians do battle with a big ugly space octopus. It's got all the stuff we loved about the first one: the witty repartee of the characters, the one-liners, the action, the effects, and Zoe Saldana as a sexy space alien.
You've got to hand it to writer/director James Gunn—who announced yesterday on Facebook that he'll be back for Vol. 3. He got the chance of a lifetime and managed to merge his own weird style as a writer and director with a wackadoo bunch of comic book characters and create something truly great. It's probably the closest thing kids today have to what Star Wars must've been like for kids in 1977. That's magic.
