Now, there’s no denying that Xbox One’s had a rough ride. In among all the pre-launch hypetacular, Microsoft were trying to implement some dastardly and bastardly policies that gamers hated from the start. That DRM business, the whole Kinect-spying-on-you-as-you-play-Call-of-Duty-in-your-undercrackers thing… it was a PR nightmare, and the company had to pull huge u-turns on all this as they realized that, yep, they done goofed.

There was a lot to make up for, a lot of lingering eff you resentment from gamers. Which, natch, isn’t what you want as a new generation of console war-age kicks off. With all of this said, it’s no surprise that the system’s playing second best in sales to the PS4.

Still, it’s getting its shit together. On launch, both current-gen consoles had slim to eff all to offer by way of exclusives, but the big names slowly started to trickle in. In the Xbox corner, Halo 5: Guardians is getting regular support, and now the company are hyping the hell out of one of their other biggest properties, with Gears of War 4.

The game hits in October, which is plenty of time to bombard us with trailers out the wazzoo. You know how this works. This latest clip is a kind of reassurance that that the old Gears of War magic is present and correct. A slice of Marcus Fenix, liberal amounts of chainsaw, some good ol’ fashioned campaign gameplay goodness. Give it an ogle.
