The Future is Fuzzy for Arrested Development, The West Wing, and, well, Futurama

Looks like today is TV day on Egotastic!, so here are a few more TV tidbits for you to stare at blankly.

Is Futurama coming back to the small screen? Well, I damn well hope so, and so does show creator Matt Groening. TV Squad reports that since the DVD sales for the super fantastic series from the creator of The Simpsons is selling so well on DVD, it might be ressurected in that same fashion as Family Guy. Co-creator, David X. Cohen, had this to say:

Three months ago, I would have said we were going to start tomorrow, and one month ago I would also have said we were going to start tomorrow. So... my current estimate is that we're starting tomorrow.

Arrested Development fans will be happy to hear that there may be a last minute reprieve for the critically acclaimed show. No, Fox won't be keeping the show, but there is the possibility of it jumping networks to either ABC or Showtime. But don't get your hopes up just yet. A few problems still plague any deals, says the New York Post.

It's never caught on with viewers and has averaged roughly 4 million viewers this season. That would be a terrific viewership number for cable's Showtime, but wouldn't cut-the-mustard on ABC. A sticking point, at least for Showtime, appears to be the cost of the show, particularly the economics of paying its large cast of "name" stars who would demand higher salaries because of their visibility.

Another series who's future remains up in the air is The West Wing, according to Yahoo! News. With the recent heart attack death of actor John Spencer, who played former White House chief of staff, and current VP nominee, Leo McGarry, the shows story line has yet to be cemented. It is uncertain, as yet, how the loss of such a major character will affect the show's direction. Ironically enough, Spencer's character suffered a heart attack on the series, but recovered quickly.
