Hey, remember that time Jerry Lewis directed and starred in the film about the Nazi clown who led Jewish children to their deaths during the Holocaust?

Oh, that's right, of course you don't. Apparently it was so utterly terrible that Lewis himself has repeatedly vowed never to let it see the light of day.

The 1972 film was called The Day the Clown Cried, and was about a washed up German circus clown named Helmut Doork who makes fun of Adolf Hitler and winds up in a concentration camp. While there, the guards notice that he has a knack for entertaining the children, so they trick him into leading Jewish children into the gas chambers at Auschwitz, like a Nazi Pied Piper. Then, when he realizes what he's inadvertently done, he goes into the chamber with the children at the last second, and the film ends with a shot of the children laughing at his antics.

Sounds like a delightful, lighthearted romp, doesn't it?

Well, now some behind-the-scenes footage of the film Harry Shearer once called perfectlyterrible has surfaced on the YouTubes. Apparently it was shot by some Flemish news programs, and it's been sending the film geeks who've lusted after this Holy Grail of unreleased movies into a tizzy.

Of course, this is only going to make them want to see it that much more.
