Facebook Boosts Security for Mobile Users Who Use the Social Network On the Go

With all this news about hacks and security leaks lately, Facebook's announcement that they've upped the ante for their site's security when users access it on their mobile devices came just in time. Two networks that recently reported password leaks were LinkedIn, a site where professionals could connect, and eHarmony, an online dating site.

Facebook is aiming to make its users experience on the site more "safe and secure" by adding some security features and rolling out enhancements that will give people who use Faceook on the go some added protection.

One of these is the Code Generator, which is geared at improving the Login Approvals feature of the site. It helps users who are having trouble logging on to the site because their mobile phone is not able to receive SMS messages from Facebook containing an authentication code by letting them get the codes faster, either through their cellular network or through the Internet. This feature is available only for Android users, but it will be rolled out to other platforms soon.

Facebook has also added a content reporting feature on mobile, which lets users report unwanted or explicit content to the network. The "report abuse" option was previously available only when the user was accessing Facebook on a computer.

Lastly, Facebook has introduced a better account recovery system by adapting a social authentication tool to give mobile users more alternative methods to get their accounts back.
