Sabrina Carpenter just dropped the cover art for her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend, and let’s just say the internet is barking.
The image shows the pop star on all fours like a dog, being held by her hair by a faceless man in trousers.
Unsurprisingly, the reaction has been intense. Fans are calling it “disgusting,” “disturbing,” and a “humiliation ritual,” with comments flooding in like: “Why is the man in there like that?” and “This is not a very empowering image for women.”
But here’s a thought, what if that’s the entire point? The album is literally called Man’s Best Friend, and Sabrina’s never been shy about leaning into satire, subversion, and yes, the male gaze.
In a pop world where empowerment doesn’t always have to look like a power suit, maybe she’s saying something bigger. Maybe she’s reclaiming control by putting herself in the fantasy and calling the shots. Or maybe... she just wanted to be hot and provocative!
Either way, it’s giving people something to talk about, and in pop music, that’s half the game!
