Rachel Bilson is Over The O.C.

Well, it looks like the phenomenon that was The O.C. may be coming to an end sooner than we had thought. While Mischa Barton's exit was both loved and hated, it seemed like the show would continue to motor on, but it looks like the rest of the cast may want to leave as well. Us Weekly quotes Rachel Bilson from the latest issue of Teen Vogue, where she has this to say:

I just feel like the show is over. I'm so happy for everything it brought me, and it's been such a great experience, but I think we're all ready to move on.

I for one still like The O.C., even if it's lost that initial spark. Seth and Summer are some of the best characters on TV, and it would suck to lose them. Who knows, maybe they can do an O.C. Legal show where Sandy goes to court, while Kirsten runs a detective agency, and Ryan is a spy who gets lost on a mysterious island, only to find that he has to head up the crime scene investigation unit while going to college and searching for the one armed man.

Either that or they'll cancel the show.

Anyway, here's Rachel Bilson and Zach Braff, and for some reason, Eva Mendes posing for pictures at the Fashion Rocks event.

Rachel Bilson is More Popular Than Mischa Barton

11:18 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

With all the rumours circulating about whether or not Mischa Barton is leaving The O.C., it seems that we may have an explanation for her possible motivation: viewers like Rachel Bilson better than her. Results from a Sky Showbiz poll show that 60% or respondents said they liked Bilson better than Mischa Barton.

Despite being the less famous of the pair, Rachel came out on top of the Sky Showbiz Hot Or Not? poll - with 60%.

The pretty, dark-haired 25-year-old, who got her big break with The OC, is in good company as her on and off screen boyfriend, Adam Brody (who plays Seth), pipped Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan) to the post with 69% of the vote.

As far as the stars who play the impossibly glamorous parents in the series go, Melinda Clarke (Julie) is a tad more popular than Kelly Rowan (Kirsten) with 55%.

And hunky dad actor Peter Gallagher (Sandy) out phwoars Tate Donovan (Jimmy) with 74%.

Well, of course Rachel Bilson is more popular than Mischa Barton. Let's see, her character's smart, self-aware, confident, doesn't do drugs, isn't whiny (although can be awfully high-pitched at times), and has way better dialogue.

And then there's Rachel in real life. Well, we don't really know that much about Rachel Bilson's real life, but maybe that's the point. You really can't hate someone when you're not bombarded with tabloid stories about her. Plus, she's dating the guy that everyone likes (Adam Brody), and not some skeazy, dirty-haired "rocker" that creeps everyone out (Cisco Adler). Oh, and her dog is a normal size.

Is Mischa Barton Really Leaving The O.C.?

11:42 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

Mischa Barton Pics
With the preview for this year's season finale of The O.C. touting that one of the cast may die, rumours are once again swirling around the Internet that it will be Mischa Barton, and her character of Marissa Cooper, that will be leaving the show. According to FemaleFirst, the producers may be killing off the character because Mishca no longer wants to be a part of the show.

The brunette star's troubled character, Marissa Cooper, is to reportedly exit the hit US teen drama after taking a drugs overdose.

A source revealed: "Mischa is definitely going. She hasn't been happy for a while and producers think its best she leaves. It is the perfect end to the current series."

News of Mischa's departure comes in the wake of reports suggesting she was trying to get fired from the show by pulling a host of sickies.

The 20-year-old actress allegedly had become worried about the show's spiralling ratings and concerned about being typecast as a teen brat.

According to reports, in the last few months Mischa has frequently called in sick or arrived late on set to the displeasure of her bosses.

Of course, Egotastic! first reported that Mischa Barton may be leaving The O.C. a month ago, but with the finale drawing near, and new insider info, it looks like it may actually be happening. So with Seth and Summer moving to Rhode Island, and Ryan off to Berkely, will the show be renamed to The R.I.?

Is Mischa Barton Leaving The O.C.?

06:12 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

Mischa Barton
Could this truly be the end for Ryan and Marissa? According to The New York Post, Mischa Barton is fed up with working on the The O.C., and is said to be trying to find any way to get out of the show.

Barton, worried about the show's spiraling ratings - and concerned about being typecast as a bratty teen - frequently calls in sick or arrives late to the set, according to a report in Life & Style magazine.

The publication quotes insiders who work on the show as being annoyed by Barton's sickouts and tardiness - especially since she's been known to hit the town and party hearty (and is the frequent subject of gossip-column items).

"She's definitely flirting with leaving the show," says one source. "But the real problem now is that she isn't taking work seriously."

Life imitating art? How apropos. It's no shock at all that Mischa is emulating her on-screen character. And while she may not be getting hooked on Cocaine (as far as we know...), she definitely seems to emulate the bad behaviour that Marissa Cooper has become known for. Frankly, I think Mischa's holding the show back, if anything, as is by far the worst character on the series. If I have to watch her go through another downward spiral of drugs and alcohol, well, I won't stop watching the show, but I will be very annoyed.

Last Night on The OC: Teenage Girls Stay Home All Alone and Have Sex

03:17 PM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

Mischa Barton has Sex on The O.C.
There's really not much gossip going on today, so I thought I'd write about last night's episode of The O.C., which, if you think about it, presented some pretty weird comments on America's parenting of teenage girls.

Of course, it's hard to understand without having actually seen the footage, so here's a video of the last scene in the episode, complete with Marissa (Micsha Barton) down to her bra, and some highly suggestive background music...

Video: Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson get sex on The O.C.

And hit the jump for my full commentary on this week's episode, plus some more screen caps... Also, comments are open on this post too.

The O.C. and The Office are The Awesome

12:33 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

Also great last night on TV were The O.C. and The Office. This review isn't going to be as exhausting as my Smallville write-up, mainly because I am exhausted (it took a long time to write that one, so go read it), but I did want to make my thoughts known, since it's my blog, and I can do whatever I want. Which includes opening the comments section. I don't know, I guess I'm in a good mood right now.

willa.jpgAnyway, if you are a fan of The O.C., you may have been feeling that the show has kinda been in a rut lately, and you really wouldn't be very wrong. Or wrong at all, for that matter. The first half of this season kinda stunk it up, what with the whole post-rehab party scamming, and the incessant up and down of Ryan and Marissa's school troubles.

Of course, it has all lead to the Coopers living in a trailer, and the most excellent return of Kaitlin Cooper (above), the jail-bait shit-disturber extraordinaire. This girl blows into town having stolen $1500 dollars from some frat boys, proceeds to seduce Marissa's "friend" surfer-dude Johnny, and gets Seth Cohen hooked on the reefer. Normally, the introduction of a long-lost sibling is the most shrk-jumping moment of them all, but this time, we've got renewed energy, increased tension, drugs, and sex appeal, all from a little 15-year-old girl. And while you may be saying "oh my god, she's so young, you perv!" Don't forget that when the show started, so were all the main characters. But yeah, it does make you feel a bit creepy. Still, The O.C. is back Bitch!

The Office's Pam and JimAnd then there's The Office. This show is hysterical, and has me cracking up non-stop for the entire half-hour. Kinda like Scrubs did, before it went and got not as good. But what's even better than the super funniness of the show is the Pam and Jim not-quite-relationship.

This has go to be one of the best unrequited loves of all time. How much more perfect can two people be for each other? But then Pam's fiancé of three years has to go and ruin it all by actually setting a date for their wedding. Jim was crushed, his love was revealed at to everyone at the office, plus he has to sit and watch Pam and her ass-hat fiancé actually talking to each other.

But the end of the episode was incredible. Why? Because Pam loves Jim too! After spending the episode in the back of the office, with the completely annoying Indian girl Kelly, Jim comes back to his desk to find seven voice-mail messages from Pam, who needs Jim as much as he need her. I know, I'm acting like a little girl, but that's TV does to me. Especially good TV. And this is some really good TV.

Comments are open after the jump.

The O.C. is Late

06:10 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

mischa barton pics
Does your week feel incomplete unless you get your fix of The O.C., every Thursday at 8pm? If so, you should probably talk to a professional about that. You should also get ready to delay your gratification by an hour when the show returns from the holiday TV break on January 12, 2006, reports Zap2It.

Yes, that's right, The O.C. is being moved back an hour to the 9pm slot, following That 70s Show (really, that's still on?), and then American Idol (when that piece of crap returns). The move may be a difficult one for the show since ratings have dropped somewhat this year, and it's new time slot will have The O.C. going head to head with CSI on CBS, and My Name is Earl and The Office on NBC. Ouch. At least DVD sales will be up.

And don't forget to check out these pictures of Mischa Barton on set. Why? Because you have that little problem we spoke about before, remember?

Morena Baccarin on The O.C.

02:14 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

All you Firefly and Serenity fans will be happy to hear that Morena Baccarin (who played the character of super sexy space hooker Inara - see you really should get that DVD) is set to appear on several episodes of The O.C.. I'm exstatic since The O.C. and Firefly are two of my favourite shows, and since Morena is super sexy (as previously mentioned).

This will also mark a Firefly reunion, of sorts, since Melinda Clarke, aka Julie Cooper, guest starred in an episode of short-lived show, also playing a super sexy space hooker.

Man, you really need to get that DVD. Source: MorenaBaccarin.net (via Whedonesque)

Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody Walk the Dogs

03:47 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody
I think Hollywood couple watching has supplanted Baseball as the American national pastime. You might find it silly, but pictures of celebrities walking their dogs really seem to get people going. Here we have Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody in one of those life imitates art / man bites dog moments (except for the whole biting part - I just wanted to lay on the clichés). It's like a scene straight out of The OC, but without all the sex, and drama, and, well, entertainment. Continue reading after the jump for a surprise dog-walking guest star!

Tonight on The O.C.: Predicatability Meets Product Placement

12:04 AM, Filed under: Home \ Television \ The O.C.

the-oc.jpg
After about three years of baseball, The O.C. is back on Fox, and frankly, I can't really say that's a good thing. At least not if this week's episode is any indication of things to come. Hopefully, this is just one of those "course correction" episodes that become neccessary every once in a while to get a show back on track, but if not, things are headed into the crapper.

Why the vehement hatred for the last episode, well, how about the fact that it rehashed just about every single plot point in O.C. history: Ryan runs away, Marissa is depressed and moody. A sexual affair between an adult and a minor. Then there was the whole blackmail sub-plot. Gee, I didn't see that one coming. Oh wait, yes I did. And if the utter lack of originality wasn't enough, how about we dedicate the entire episode to Motorola and it's wonderful Sidekick cell phone. Ooh, it's a phone, it does text, it surfes the web! It's also a patently obvious ploy at marketing the damn thing to teenagers, and anyone else dumb enough not to see through the ever so subtle product placement.

Word to the wise (Josh Scwartz and McG, that means you): Get the show back on track, or your going to see your audience disappear faster than you can say midseason replacement...
