Is Mischa Barton Really Leaving The O.C.?
With the preview for this year's season finale of The O.C. touting that one of the cast may die, rumours are once again swirling around the Internet that it will be Mischa Barton, and her character of Marissa Cooper, that will be leaving the show. According to FemaleFirst, the producers may be killing off the character because Mishca no longer wants to be a part of the show.
The brunette star's troubled character, Marissa Cooper, is to reportedly exit the hit US teen drama after taking a drugs overdose.
A source revealed: "Mischa is definitely going. She hasn't been happy for a while and producers think its best she leaves. It is the perfect end to the current series."
News of Mischa's departure comes in the wake of reports suggesting she was trying to get fired from the show by pulling a host of sickies.
The 20-year-old actress allegedly had become worried about the show's spiralling ratings and concerned about being typecast as a teen brat.
According to reports, in the last few months Mischa has frequently called in sick or arrived late on set to the displeasure of her bosses.
Of course, Egotastic! first reported that Mischa Barton may be leaving The O.C. a month ago, but with the finale drawing near, and new insider info, it looks like it may actually be happening. So with Seth and Summer moving to Rhode Island, and Ryan off to Berkely, will the show be renamed to The R.I.?

If she's "concerned about being typecast as a teen brat," she shouldn't act like one off-camera. Just go to work, do your job and be a pro. Sickies are for whiney teen brats.

Taylor, the oen with the korean has already signed on for next season I read. She was pretty annoying but hopefully won't be so bad when we have to see more of her. Hopefully Marissa is the one going, thoguh perhaps she is getting out at the right time. The show is gettign pretty boring and stupid that's why has poor ratings.

Do people still watch that show? And where does she think she will go? She hasn't been in a film since she played that shoplifter in that Dominique Swain movie. See? Her performance was so miserable I can't even remember what it was called. Yawn.

Mischa Barton has obviously had the rougher end of the casting in the OC. I could easily imagine becoming sick of playing a depressing role in the OC weeks on end. Mischa Barton is role model for many many teen girls out there, and i agree that this is a smart move on her part and look forward to seeing her in lets say "Better" tv series and movies. =)

Frankly I don't believe the rumors but if tru I really don't blame her. The show has turned into a pile of crap. Season 1 was awesome, then season 2 it started going downhill at a rapid rate and has nearly hit rock bottom. These days it's just a 90210 rip off!
They have Samaire Armstrong & Autumn Reeser returning though. Unfortunatly SA is a good character but the actress is overbaked (Paris Hilston style) with ugly hair extensions. Meanhile AR's ok but plays one of those OT characters that is sumply a rip-off of Reese Witherspoons Elle Woods & Tracey Flick. Both bug and neither are as pretty as MB.

is she actually acting in anything else to leave the o.c? seriuosly i havent seen her in any other movie/sitcom besides the o.c, and issit just me or does she really really suck as an actress.. TOTALLY OVER-RATED!

k honestly u ppl r stupid...im a HUGE oc fan and the show has gotten worse since the first season (which was incredible) but thats not mischa's fault...nd the o.c just wouldbt b the same without the "fab four" so i really hope marissa stays for the sake of true oc fans.
