U2 Moving to Montreal

Last night's U2 concert at the Bell Centre in Montreal was amazing. U2 were in top form, with Bono even singing the Luciano Pavarotti parts of Miss Sarajevo. The show was electric and the crowd, as always, was louder than the band. Montreal is one of those cities that knows how to rock out, and last night was no exception. The band was noticably stunned by the energy and volume coming from the fans, with Bono telling the crowd: "You are crazy people."

So crazy, in fact, that a few hundred people (myself included) stood outside in -10 degrees Celsius (that's 14 degrees Fahrenheit) cold for upwards of three hours (some people were in line since 5:00 am). Also joining U2 on stage was producer, and Montrealer Daniel Lanois on guitar for the final song of the night, "Bad." Bono also urged everyone in the audience to put pressure on Canada's Prime Minister, Paul Martin, to live up to his promise of debt relief and aid for Africa in the upcoming Canadian election, saying that it would be impossible to wipe out poverty in the world without the help of Canada.

What really got the crowd going, however, was when Bono announced that U2 would be moving to Montreal. He may have been joking, but the audience roared once again in delight, and after a few more words from Bono, the show continued on. Yet some of the U2 fans I met last night apparently have some deeper insight into Bono's seemingly fleeting comment. According to a source, U2 spent the day at the Cirque Du Soleil headquarters in Montreal, and may be planning a show with the famed acrobatic company. If so, they might actually be moving to montreal, and living in our frozen oasis.

One last note: Montreal band The Arcade Fire opened the show in superb fashion, almost stealing the spotlight from U2. Now the favourite band of Coldplay, David Bowie, and U2, I strongly urge you to catch The Arcade Fire in concert if you can. While only on the U2 tour for three shows (one in Ottawa, and two in Montreal), Arcade Fire's song "Wake Up" is featured as the lead-in music when U2 takes the stage each show. They are one of the few acts who's music reach new heights when performing live. Perhaps in a few years, they may be as big as U2.

Lindsay Lohan Looks Lovely on Leno

Lindsay Lohan was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. I didn't watch, but I kinda wish I had. Sure, she's looking nowhere near as good as she did a year or two ago, but it's one hell of a big improvement from her recent experiments with anorexia. Put a few more pounds on those bones and everyone will be happy again. Gotta say, though. Love the legs.

Courtney Cox Bikini Pictures

In a move that was obviously planned to take advantage of the distraction that is Thanksgiving, it has been announced that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are separating after three years of marriage. Us Weekly got the exclusive from the couple:

After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.

Of course, Egotastic! already had the story that Nick and Jessica separated almost two months ago, on October 6. When was that first US Weekly article again? Oh right, October 17...

Alias Cancelled

ABC has finally made a smart move involving Alias. The show is being cancelled, and will go off the air at the end of this season, reports Yahoo! News. After five years, it has become clear that Alias is not the show it used to be. The circular plots and changing alliances have gotten so repetetive and mind-numbing, that it's becoming a chore to keep watching. Which guys are good? Which guys are bad? Which guys are dead? Does anyone care anymore? The show really has become a broken record of late, and it looks like the addition of Rachel Nichols just couldn't help save the failing series. ABC has said, however, that the show will be going out with a big ending, rather than slowly wrapping everything up. I guess that's enough to keep me watching until the end, but honestly, I just want to see who gets killed. It better be everybody. We don't need no spin-offs.

Sienna Miller and Jude Law Fight in Public

Page Six reports today that Sienna Miller and ridiculously on-again-off-again boyfriend Jude Law had a very public fight, yelling at each in both a restaurant on Monday night, and then out on the street in the rain on Tuesday during lunch. It all ended with Jude telling Sienna to fuck off before storming away. Witnesses report:

They "got into a heated argument in front of everyone. It was so bad that Sienna was brought to tears and stormed outside to catch her breath and have a ciggie." The bickering didn't end there. After the couple had lunch at Balthazar yesterday, they got into another tiff. Our corner mouse says: "They were fighting on the corner of Spring and Broadway, [screaming] [bleep] this and [bleep] that and [bleep]hole and bitch . . . Jude got so [bleep]ed off, he told her one last time to [bleep] off and then he stormed off.

What Page Six doesn't seem to mention is that the make-up sex was probably Earth-shattering.
