If you're a regular reader of Egotastic!, you undoubtedly know that Natalie Portman is a favourite around these parts. And lately, there has been much ado about her ever-changing hair styles. First there was the the bald cut. Then, there was very slight mohawk. And then, the slightly bushier mohawk. But now, Natalie has gone full mohawk, with her head completely shaved, except for one stripe down the middle. Oh, and don't forget the buns.

The pictures are pretty small, and grainy, but bigger ones should be up soon.

It Plays Doom!

Check out the trailer for the "Doom" movie. Yes, that Doom. I can't believe they actually have FPS-style in it, but I guess it makes sense. All I know is, if The Rock doesn't do his eyebrow thing, I want my money back now.

Charisma Carpenter Bikini Picture from Veronica Mars

Rounding out the days Whedon posts is this lovely promo for the next season of UPN's Veronica Mars, featuring none other than Buffy/Angel alumnus, Charisma Carpenter. In a bikini. Looking great.

Veronica Mars is actually written or produced by some of the people who worked on Buffy or Angel, but I can't remember the details too well. It's a good show, with another great reason to watch. Click the pic above for a larger version.

Spike TV Movie Confirmed

In case you haven't figured it out (and frankly, you probably haven't, since the whole blog is reverse-chronological order) today is unofficially Whedonverse day at Egotastic! WTF is Whedonverse, you ask? Well, anyone in the know (i.e. a nerd) would tell you that it's anything having to do with shows and movies from creator Joss Whedon. Anyway, Moviehole reports that a Spike TV movie has been confirmed, and will be written by longtime Whedonverse writer and producet, Tim Minear. Minear told Whedonesque "I had lunch with Joss and he asked me if I wanted to write and direct some blonde vampire movie thing."

Anthony Stewart Head as Doctor Who?

This may be spoilery, but I don't really consider casting a lead to be a spoiler so here's what you would otherwise have to highlight at Comic Book Resources:

Word reached me of an FX team working on test footage of... Morphing an image of the head of the late Antony Ainley (who played The Master in Doctor Who during the nineteen eighties) into the head of... well. Antony Stewart. Head, against a cricketing background. Does this mean that a) it's a stunt, b) they're ignoring Eric Robert's portrayal of The Master in the Paul McGann TV movie or c) Antony Stewart Head will play The Master in the second series of the new Doctor Who?

I think Anthony Stewart Head would make a great Doctor Who?, from what I remember of the show, at least. Maybe now I'll actually be inclined to watch it.

Session 416: Serenity Viral Video

Serenity, the big screen continuation of the now defunct Firefly TV series, is coming to theatres soon (September 30, in fact), and I am very excited. Because I am a nerd. Honestly, though, do yourself a favour and watch the show. It' only 14 episodes, and is on DVD now.

Anyway, as part of the marketing for the film, Joss Whedon recruited Summer Glau for some really cool, and creepy viral videos. If you know Firefly, you'll definitely get a kick out of them. If you don't, maybe it'll peak your curiosity. And don't forget about the Trailer, too.

America's Next Top Model 5... Thousand!!!

Well, I've got to say, I'm pretty excited about the new round of America's Next Top Model. Partly because I haven't seen any new TV shows all summer, and I'm totally going through withdrawal, but mostly because the girls actually look pretty this time. I know, I couldn't believe it either. What's more, they don't even have a fat girl this year. I don't know who they thought they were kidding when they had the fat girls on the last few years. You know from the start there's no way she's gonna win, but they keep her a round till at least the 6th elimination just to show that they care. Bullshit.

Lauren Lee Smith - Lie With Me Promos

So, usually, when movie studios promote a movie that has nudity in it, they usually allude to the nudity, or skirt the issue, or say it's for artistic purposes, and other things like that. Or course, 99% of the time, the nude scenes are in the movie because the producers think "tits sell movies" (I actually saw that in a making of for "Eye of the Beholder").

So the thing I don't quite get is, if the nudity is the lure to draw people into the theatre (which has actually been shown not to work), why did the producers for Lie With Me, starring Lauren Lee Smith and Eric Balfour, opt to release promo shots with the nudity already in them? Don't get me wrong, though, I'm not complaining.

X-Men 3 Set Report: Beast Sighting

Superhero Hype has a first-hand report from the Victoria, BC (that's in Canada, by the way) set of X-Men 3. The kicker in this piece is the discription of Kelsey Grammar as The Beast in full makeup.

I also had the luck of literally walking into Kelsey Grammer with his Beast head on, T-Shirt and shorts... I was going up the driveway to my car and he was coming down to the castle... The Beast is awwwwwesome!... I didn't recognize him because I was so astonished with the face... I told him he was "looking good" and then recognized his voice when he said thanks. The face is jet black and huge and builds up on his squarish features. Just at the side the skin turns a deep blue with a solid line running down the side so his ears are blue and his neck and shoulders. The hair is a different blue and looks like he put his finger in an electric socket. No one will be disappointed!

That sounds encouraging.
