Luke Skywalker In New Star Wars TV Series?

03:44 PM, Filed under: Home \ Movies \ Star Wars

Latino Review has a post up about some possible casting rumours for the new Star Wars TV series.

...someone said it's along the lines of 'Young Indiana Jones' and it could have Mark Hamill reprising his role as Luke Skywalker for several episodes...

This info comes via a Hasbro employee who's seen the contracts for the tie-in figures for the new series. He also writes:

...A Lucas Film rep told another of the guys here that they're going to be testing a mass of young actors for the roles. I'm keen myself to find out who's playing [hint] 'the original owner of the Falcon'.

Does that mean Lando Calrissian will be in the series. If so, they should get Donald Faison in the role.

Oh, and I believe that if Luke Skywalker is in the show, he'll be there as a sort of narrator character, probably telling his young Jedi students about the old days. (via FilmRot)

Pierce Brosnan Still 007

03:23 PM, Filed under: Home \ Movies \ James Bond

pierce-brosnan-bond-small.jpgI don't know if it was all planned from the get-go, but all the rumours and conjecture regarding the next James Bond actor, were for naught.

It's still bond, and despite what some may say, I think it always was, and this was all just a way to stir up publicity.

Dame Judi Dench, who M, gave Ananova the scoop:

Despite the fact that everyone on the face of the earth has been tested as his possible replacement, Pierce will be doing it again.

Serenity Advanced Screenings Sell Out

02:12 PM, Filed under: Home \ Movies \ Serenity

serenity-cast.jpg
Wow. O.K. As if getting the trailer for Serenity wasn't enough, the execs at Universal decided to hold 10 preview screenings in ten cities accross the U.S.

And they all sold out within a matter of hours. Damn sleep! One hour earlier, and I'd have me one of those tickets. Well, probably not, and I guess it's O.K., since I don't live in any of those cities.

Joss Whedon posted a message on the Serenity message board, but you need to be a member to read it, so you can find it if you click "continue reading..."

Also, the advanced screening info page is available, but again, you need to be a member, and there are no more tickets left.

Bryan's Blog #9

bryan-singer-video-9.jpg
Another of Bryan Singer's video journals has gone up over at BlueTights.net. This one, entitled "Big, Scary, Lit-up, Director Face" is fun for a few reasons, not least of which is the title.

While not as entertaining as the classic video #7 "The Call" featuring the emaciated Peter Jackson, this one appealed to me on a different level of geekiness. The Tech Level.

Yes, Superman Returns will be shot digitally, using a camera called "The Genesis Camera." How badass is that!? If you remember Star Trek II or III, very.

My favourite part, however, was when Singer said "now [digital] looks better than film." Yes, digital is better than film. I know many a nay-sayer, personally even (*cough* Dave *cough*), and I was quite glad to hear it come from the mouth of a well-respected director such as Singer.

Oddly enough, unlike on the last two Star Wars movies, which were both shot digitally, the editing process on Superman Returns seems not to have been helped out by the transition to digital. Whereas on the Star Wars productions, the shots from the morning were being edited after lunch the same day, it seems that on this shoot, there is an even longer delay than with printing film dailies.

By the way, here's video #8

Serenity Trailer Screen Cap
The trailer for Serenity looks absolutely amazing. The movie looks like what Star Wars should be (in fact, it looks like they aped a shot or two from Return of the Jedi - see above image).

I absolutely cannot wait for this movie. Firefly was one of the best shows on TV, and, I think, Joss' best series yet.

For more caps from the trailer, follow the link.

New Batman Trailer

There's also a new trailer for Batman Begins today. Sadly, it's only available at MTV.com, and they seem to have deal with Microsoft, because you can't use Netscape or Firefox, and they'll bug you about some annoying DRM software, but if that doesn't bother you, it's worth checking out.

View it in Windows Media, or Flash.

The Serenity trailer is online now, and is available at www.apple.com/trailers.

Joss wrote this to Herc from AICN:

Herc -- yes it's me […] again. Here's th' vital info: The trailer goes up at 1:00 pm PST tomorrow [Tuesday]. Sing it to the world.

That piece about the trailer in AICN was awfully disrespectful of you, I thought. It made us out to be butt-buddies, which apart from that one magical night under the stars is TOTALLY untrue.

Later on, -j.

George Lucas on The O.C.

01:51 AM, Filed under: Home \ Movies \ Star Wars

lucasgeorge1.jpgWorlds collide on The O.C.! What will Seth do when he mast face the ultimate choice: take Summer to the prom, or meet the master himself, George Lucas!?

If only my life had such problems. Sad part is, I think I'd end up choosing Lucas.

Yes, that's right, Lucas himself will be guest starring on the May 12th episode of The OC. I've seen him do guest spots on other TV shows, although I can't remember which. His acting however, was unforgettable. Because it was bad. The episode, however, should be quite entertaining, if the it lives up to the premise below.

George Lucas will guest-star as himself on "The O.C." on Thursday, May 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

During the episode, Summer makes Zach and Seth decide which one of them is going to take her to Harbor High's "The O.Sea" prom. But, after George Lucas expresses interest in Seth's graphic novel, Seth is forced to make the most difficult decision of his life -- take Summer to the prom or have dinner with George Lucas. Update: Preview pictures of the episode available at JustJared.
