Did ‘Doctor Who’ Audition For ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’?

Another day, another Episode VII rumor. But this one is actually kind of cool, and somewhat believable.


Matt Smith, better known in nerd circles as the 11th Doctor Who, is rumored to be in the running for a role in the upcoming Star Wars sequel. Of course, it's far to early to confirm that Smith will trade in his sonic screwdriver for a lightsaber, but the idea of this sci-fi heavyweight crossing over to another franchise is sure to resonate with dorks everywhere.



The rumor comes a day after actor Jason Flemyng tweeted (and later deleted) a picture of the Episode VIIaudition script. While the script may turn out to have nothing to do with the actual plot, I have to imagine the tweet cost Flemyng whatever chance he had of landing a role in the film. Mickey Mouse don't play.
