TV & FILM

If Phantom Thread sounds like a Star Wars film, that's no coincidence, because in certain circles, this film is every bit as anticipated as The Last Jedi. Any time one of our greatest living directors teams up with one of our greatest living actors for a film is cause for celebration. Cinephiles everywhere are eagerly awaiting the release of Phantom Thread, the latest film from Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, The Master), like the gaggles of nerds awaiting the release of The Last Jedi.
Add to all this the fact that this film re-teams Anderson with his There Will be Blood star Daniel Day-Lewis—who has announced this as his final film—and you've got yourself one of the biggest art house event films in years. It's terribly sad to think that this partnership only yielded two films, but if Phantom Thread is even half as good as There Will Be Blood, then they will go down as one of the best director/actor pairings of all time.
As one of those aforementioned cinephiles, I'm beside myself with anticipation for this one. I'm also envious of anyone in NY and LA that can take advantage of these advanced screenings touted in this teaser. For the rest of us, Phantom Thread will open in early January probably. Hopefully.
