With Oscar buzz surrounding her upcoming performance alongside Bradley Cooper in the third remake of A Star is Born, DC and Warner Brothers really want to be in the Lady Gaga business. She was offered, but subsequently turned down, a role in DC's upcoming Birds of Prey movie, but a new rumor suggests that DC is not only not giving up on the idea, they're going out of their way to get her to sign on.
According to Super Bro Movies, DC has increased their offer to the singer and also given her the choice of playing either Black Canary or Huntress. I think she'd make a lot more sense as Black Canary, but I guess they've got to expand their horizons a bit and let her decide. The film is set to feature Margot Robbie's return to the role of Harley Quinn as she teams up (for some reason) with Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassie Cain's Batgirl to take on the villainous Black Mask.
I don't mind Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn for this movie, but why do they refuse to let her be a villain? She'd be a much more compelling character if she were just allowed to be the villain she is in every other iteration of the character. Lady Gaga or no, they really need to rethink this whole movie before they make it, but that's not gonna happen. The film is set to begin shooting early next year.
